Guangxi Medical University was established on November 21, 1934, and is located in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The university is one of the first universities in China to accept an English medical education program for international students, which is limited to clinical medicine. It is directly commissioned by the Central Ministry of Health to lead the Central South Ministry of Health. It is one of the three universities that the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region focuses on. It is the centre of Guangxi medical education, medical research, clinical care and preventive health care

The teaching staff of Guangxi Medical University is of high quality, and the students are of good quality and come from a wide range of sources. The university has 3,346 faculty members, including 2,436 full-time teachers, 1,234 of whom hold doctoral degrees. The university currently has 61,157 students of all kinds, including 17,840 full-time undergraduates, and 9,697 postgraduates (5,873 full-time postgraduates and 3,824 part-time postgraduates).
